[News] We Got Married Losing the Plot Completely

After a frantic week involving who was staying and leaving We Got Married, it was announced today that all 4 existing couples will now depart the show instead. The producers for the show announced that the sudden decision to cut all 4 couples was taken just this past weekend after a meeting. The final episode for all 4 couples will be aired on 3rd May with the new couples coming in on 10th May."

Jung Hyung Don - Tae Yeon and Shin Sung Rok - Kim Shin Young couples had already given notice that they were leaving the show before the weekend with JunJin - Lee Si Young, Kangin - Lee Yoon Ji couples now following them as well out of the show. And unlike the previous season couples, the 4 couples will not have a farewell mission because they have enough filmed material which will be edited accordingly.

The number of couples will also be reduced from 4 to just two and given a hour instead 70 minutes. The production team explained, "As this was a sudden decision, we are still in the process of selecting the new couples. The new couples will be formed on the basis of being able to give an accurate portrayal of married life just like in reality. We are trying for a real marriage concept instead of a make-believe one."

This was actually something that has been waiting to happen and definitely not a knee-jerk reaction. Ratings have been steadily declining, remaining in the single digit range for the past few months and a far cry from the near 20% ratings it used to get. The ratings for We Got Married (6.9%) and Daemang (3.1%) for MBC Sunday Sunday Night this past Sunday wasn't even ranked in the top 20. No wonder MBC is getting anxious and worried for they are losing big in advertising revenue and getting walloped in the ratings.

Competition from SBS Family Outing and KBS2TV 1N2D in the same timeslot have also contributed since they chalked up high ratings consistently every week. But the main reason is most probably that the novelty of the whole make-believe marriage concept has worn off and is no longer appealing to viewers in Korea. People who used to care and show concern for the couples in the earlier episodes have moved on, as the replacements have failed to capture their imagination. The early success of the show also contributed to the rapid demise of the show as things subsequently got recycled, familiar patterns starts appearing, etc. No matter who comes in now, it doesn't seem like it will ever touch our hearts again like what the earlier couples did.

[News] Family Outing’s Comic Runway

On this week's Family Outing, the male protector ahjumma Kim Won Hee presented the idea of having a comic runway. As the group was broken up into "teams", Kim Jong Kook and Lee Chun Hee were chosen as the first victims. Daesung mentioned worriedly "the boss said I can't have a stupid image...". After they appeared everyone told him "You just got used by Hyori." Sorry Daesung, but you've been stuck with the stupid image since you appeared on the show.

Ahjusshis Yoon Jong Shin and Kim Su Ro did a comic 'Boys Over Flowers' version. I almost died when Yoon Jong Shin came out as JanDi and Kim Su Ro, what a way to burn my eyes. I thought it was two ahjummas when I saw the picture. Yoon Jong Shin reminded me more of Dracula than JanDi and the other family members begged him "please don't look at us with those eyes".

The final "models", MC Yoo Jae Suk and Park Ye Jin, appeared with a bang. Yoo Jae Suk could be heard saying "Ye Jin-ah! Go out proudly!" and they made the family burst out in laughter. After the runway, the members of the family all sat there spacing out, each thinking of their images. Man, this show sure is ruining a lot of images.

From Hyori the Hottie to...man, I don't even know what, Kim Jong Kook the gagman, Daesung from being a Big Bang idol to an idiot, model/actor Lee Chun Hee into Chunderella, and cool actress Park Ye Jin into sweet-but-violent Ye Jin-asshi.

[News] KangIn’s father’s suprising appearance on WGM….meet daugher-in-law Lee Yoonji

The couple KangIn & Lee Yoonji’s parents has met each other on the show MBC “We got married”

On the “We got married” episode which was aired on April 12th, Lee Yoonji’s mother and Kangin’s father have made a suprising appearance. Lee Yoonji’s mother brought a bed and Kangin’s father brought a gas range to the couple. Therefore, it made them happy.

Because Lee Yoonji’s mother is a singing teacher so KangIn made a visit to her classroom and even practiced with the others, and to suprised Lee Yoonji, Kangin’s father had made a suprising apperance. Kangin’s father has pretend to be a gas range’s deliverer and came into their house, later when Yoonji knew the truth, she couldnt hide her surprise.

Later, (people) got the chance to laugh when Kangin’s aunt and father showed their unique characters. Kangin’s father who always proud of his outward appearance had talked about Kangin’s childhood with his aunt “He was very popular” and “He was good at everything except studying” that made people saw his unique sense of humor. Kangin said “(I) was not only an actor but also learnt to have talent” to his father of which he advised “You should have tried in gag’s field” and made people burst out laughing.

KangIn’s father and aunt had had a warm family meal with the couple. Lee Yoonji and Kangin’s father & aunt had prepared gifts and given them to each other warmly.

[News] ‘We Got Married’ to attempt a change in format from May onwards
